Why we built SurveyLane

Most survey tools optimise for the easy half of the job: dragging questions onto a page and counting the responses. The valuable half — understanding what the answers mean, who said what, and what to do next — is left to spreadsheets, manual pivot tables, and gut feeling.

We wanted a tool where the analysis is a first-class citizen, not an afterthought. Where results update the moment someone hits submit, where you can branch a respondent's path based on what they told you, and where you can ask a question about your data and get a statistically sound answer back — without exporting anything.

What makes us different

Three ideas run through the product. First, conditional logic and conditional feedback: respondents only see what is relevant to them, and at the end of a survey we can show them well-founded, tailored information based on how they answered — closing the loop instead of ending on a thank-you screen.

Second, analysis you can talk to. SurveyLane ships a hosted, read-only MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Connect Claude, Claude Desktop or Cursor and ask questions about your results in plain English; the AI picks the right statistical tool, runs it, and writes up the findings.

Third, trust by default. Your data lives in the EU, everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can export or delete it whenever you like. We never train AI models on your responses.

SurveyLane is built and operated by FreelyIT, an independent software studio based in the Netherlands. We are a small, senior team that prefers shipping focused, well-engineered software over chasing feature checklists.

Being independent means we answer to our users, not to advertisers or data brokers. Our business model is simple: you pay for the product, and the product works for you. That alignment is the whole point.
